Your leg up, honestly

It is easy to over-rate something you built and tested on your own computer. So everything in the right-hand column below was checked on the live site today, with real payments and real email, not just on a laptop. Here is what that adds up to next to what most small food spots run on.

Top-tier food comes first

No system makes people come back for food they don’t love. It only makes sure they remember, and that they have a reason to return. Joe’s has the food: 3 oz American Wagyu smashed with Joe’s own rub and sweet onions, American cheese and bang bang sauce, and tallow fries cooked three times and fried to order. Great food plus a system that brings people back is the leg up. Either one alone is not.

The same system fits any local business

A coffee shop, a barber, a gym or a boutique can run the same pieces: a card by phone number, a membership, its own list and automatic follow-up. Built by Vivere Web, it is the kind of setup usually only chains can afford, sized for a one-location business in a town like Delta.

The starting line, 18 October 2026

The forecasts on this page only count once these numbers move. Check them every Monday in your owner console and on your Google profile, and trust them over any projection, including this one.

1SMASH card (yours). Sign-ups start with the first posts and the window sign.
0paying members. The live test purchase was refunded, so the first real member is still ahead.
48customer interactions on your Google profile, and 1 review (5.0). Review asks start now.
$1,000–1,170net sales a week at the window before the website, Google and social launched (September).

What’s live

Four groups of people use it: customers, the crew at the window, you, and the systems that keep it honest.

For customers

  • SMASH card: 1 smash per order of $10 or more (one a day), members get double, 10 smashes = a free Single Smash Meal, good for 60 days. No app, no paper card.
  • My account: progress, free meals waiting, membership and renewal date, Dinner Night orders and email on/off, signed in by an emailed link (no password).
  • Memberships: Smash Club (10% off, double smashes, 5% off catering, Dinner Night menu a day early) and Family Table (all of that, plus free delivery within 12 miles, $25 minimum, 4 a month, 10% off catering, Dinner Night order held). Card, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Cancel any time online; perks run to the end of the paid period.
  • Dinner Night: a weekly family dinner menu, ordered ahead and picked up hot. The list is open now; the first menu is coming.
  • Online ordering knows members: the ticket says so, and Family Table delivery is free when it qualifies.

For the crew at the window

  • JOE’S Crew app: installs on any phone or tablet from chefjoeroadhouse.com/staff. Say the number, tap +1 smash (members get 2), undo within 10 minutes, start a card, redeem a free meal.
  • Dinner Night pickups: who is coming when, and “Picked up” adds their smash.
  • Clover stays as it is: members get Clover’s own 10% discount; the free meal is comped.
  • Crew sheet and window sign (with a QR code) printed in English and Spanish.

For you

  • Owner console: a “Do this now” list (free meals waiting, new and cancelling members, failed payments, one smash away, regulars not back in 30 days), memberships with monthly recurring revenue, every customer’s full history, and buttons to add or take away smashes, mark a free meal used or give one.
  • Email campaigns: write once, pick who gets it, preview, send yourself a test, then send.
  • Dinner Night builder: dishes, prices, limits, pickup times, open and close ordering, the order list.

Behind the scenes

  • Proof of every yes and no to email, kept for as long as they are on your list; one-click unsubscribe and your postal address in every email.
  • Bounce and spam protection: a bad address or a spam report stops email to that person automatically (tested live).
  • Stripe: every payment, renewal and cancel reaches the site within seconds, each one counted once (tested live with a real purchase).
  • Security: signed links instead of passwords, staff and owner PINs checked on the server, limits on wrong guesses.
  • Running cost: the Cloudflare plan you already pay for, Resend’s free email plan (3,000 a month), and Stripe’s fee on each payment. No monthly software subscription.

Forecast it yourself

Move the sliders to your own guesses. These are projections built from the rules above, not promises. For a sense of scale: before launch the window did about $1,000 to $1,170 of net sales a week, and Delta Roadhouse pays you 80% of food sales plus tips.

Yearly is 2 months free, paid up front.
Each member visit gets 10% off.
Each one waives the $4.99 delivery fee.
The visits that would not have happened without the card.
A Single Smash Meal is $12, a Double $15.
$0Membership money a month, after Stripe’s fees
$0That, over a year
$0Member perks a month (your 80% of the 10% discounts, plus delivery fees waived)
$0Membership money left a month after perks
$0Food members buy a month, after their 10% (your 80%)
$0New food sales a month from the SMASH card (your 80%: $0)
0Free meals earned a month ($0 at menu price; they cost you the ingredients)
0People on your email list a year from now, from new card sign-ups alone

Stripe fees used: 2.9% + 30¢ per charge plus 0.7% for subscriptions. Members’ 10% comes off food sales, so you carry 80% of it. Smashes from members count once here, so free meals are a slight undercount. The scenarios start from the window’s real volume, roughly 330 to 360 orders a month before launch; “Strong” assumes the card and the posts grow that.

Three scenarios

The same math as the sliders, with three sets of guesses. Pick the one that feels like Delta, then move the sliders from there.

Delta County, and how it grows

Who lives and passes by within reach of the trailer, what that means for memberships, and how your online presence compounds. Figures marked with a source are published data; the model below them is a projection.

Who’s around Joe’s

31,598people in Delta County, in 12,959 households (ACS 2020–24). About 32,200 by 2025.
9,421people in the city of Delta, 3,760 households; 24.5% are under 18 and 25.3% of homes have kids.
14,000vehicles a day on Main Street (US-50) beside the courtyard (CDOT, counted 2024); 19,000 at the US-50 / SH-92 junction (counted 2022).
4,575people work in the city of Delta, about a thousand more than live there with jobs: a weekday lunch and order-ahead crowd.
$57,774county median household income ($45,250 in the city). A $6 membership fits this town.
28.4%of the county is 65 or older (median age 48.1); 81.9% of homes have broadband.
71%of rural adults use Facebook, 57% daily; Instagram 37% (Pew). Facebook first, Instagram second.
5,638households in Delta, Orchard City and Olathe, roughly the Family Table free-delivery area (12 miles).

The membership market

If a small share of Delta County’s 12,959 households join. Uses a mix of 3 Smash Club to 1 Family Table ($7.50 a member a month on average), before Stripe’s fees and before perks.

Growth model: online presence compounds

Every post, review, page and email adds to a base that keeps working, so sign-ups grow month over month, then level off as you reach more of the households that could ever be regulars. Move the sliders to your own guesses.

Why your online presence compounds

Google

Your verified Business Profile already shows 48 customer interactions and a 5.0 rating, with ordering buttons. Every review the new review asks bring in lifts you in “burger near me” searches.

Your website

chefjoeroadhouse.com: 23 pages in English and Spanish with online ordering, the SMASH card and memberships, built for search and fast on a phone. It works around the clock and never forgets a customer.

Social, borrowed and owned

Posts go out from Mimi’s established Instagram with Chef Joe as Collab, plus both Facebook Pages, so Joe’s reaches an audience on day one. Dozens of posts are already scheduled.

Your own list

Every SMASH card and order adds a name you can reach again for free: welcome, “one smash to go”, free meal ready, review asks and newsletters. This is the part that compounds the most, because you own it.

14,000 cars a day

The trailer sits about 80 metres off the busiest stretch of Main Street. The window sign’s QR code turns that traffic into card holders.

Word of mouth

73% of Americans get local news from friends, family and neighbours (Pew). A free meal 10 visits away gives regulars a reason to bring someone.

Sources: US Census Bureau, American Community Survey 2020–2024 5-year estimates via Census Reporter; county 2025 estimate via USAFacts (Census Population Estimates); CDOT Highways: Traffic Counts (annual average daily traffic, both directions; count years differ by segment); Pew Research Center on rural social media use and local news. The delivery-area household count adds the three towns’ ACS households; distances are approximate. Google profile figures from your Business Profile on 18 October 2026.

Retention and email

The SMASH card gives people a reason to come back; your customer list lets you remind them. Both belong to you, not to Clover, Delta Roadhouse or an app company.

Emails that send themselves

  • Welcome when someone starts a card and says yes to email.
  • One smash to go when they are one visit from a free meal.
  • Your free meal is ready the moment they earn it.
  • Sign-in link to their account, any time they ask.

Newsletters you send

  • Pick who gets it: everyone who said yes, members only, the Dinner Night list, SMASH card holders, regulars with no order in 30 days, or a label you gave people (for example “catering”).
  • Preview it, send yourself a test, then send. It goes out in English or Spanish to match each person.
  • Turn campaigns on in Settings when you write your first one. Two to four a month is the sweet spot.

What it tells you

  • Who your regulars are, how often they come and what they spend.
  • Who is close to a free meal, who has gone quiet, who just joined.
  • Monthly recurring revenue, cancels and failed payments, live.

Why it matters

Money that isn’t split

Membership fees go to Vivere Colorado LLC in full, less Stripe, monthly or a year in advance. They roughly cover the members’ own perks, and keep your best regulars committed to Joe’s.

Your own list

Names, numbers and emails of the people who eat at Joe’s, with proof of every yes. If anything ever changes with the location, the customers come with you.

More visits

A free meal 10 visits away, double smashes for members and the “one smash to go” email all pull people back sooner than they would come on their own.

Easy on the crew

No punch cards, no app to explain: “What’s your phone number?” and one tap. Clover stays exactly as it is.

Planned dinners

Dinner Night orders come in ahead with limits per dish, so you cook to known numbers and sell family-size meals on the nights you choose.

Built to be trusted

Consent proof, one-click unsubscribe, bounce protection, signed links and Stripe’s own checkout: the things that keep a list healthy and customers comfortable.

What to build next

In rough order of payoff for the effort. Quick is a day or less, Bigger is a few days or needs someone else’s sign-off.

Quick

Google review asks, done right

A “How was it? Leave us a Google review” link in the free-meal email and on the order confirmation, and a QR card at the window. Asked of everyone, never paid for with smashes: that is what Google and the FTC allow, and it is how real reviews add up.

Quick

“We miss you” and birthday emails

Automatic win-back after 30 days quiet, and a birthday smash. Both run on the list you already have.

Quick

Bring a friend

Give 2 smashes, get 2 smashes when a friend starts a card with your number. Cheap growth through people who already like you.

Quick

Dinner Night every week

Your pastas and Mexican favorites as a weekly menu, the menu email to the list (members a day early), and a reminder the morning of pickup.

Bigger

Text messages

“Your free meal is ready” and Dinner Night reminders by text. Needs a business texting number and carrier registration (A2P 10DLC) first, about 2 to 4 weeks.

Bigger

Wallet card

The SMASH card in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, showing their smashes on their lock screen.

Bigger

Gift and office memberships

Gift a month of Smash Club, or a team plan for a local office that orders lunch, billed to one card.

Bigger

Catering members

Turn the catering discount into a booking path: members request a quote from their account, and you see their history before you price it.

Bigger

Clover link

Smashes added automatically from Clover sales. Needs Delta Roadhouse’s OK on their Clover account; worth revisiting after a few months of real numbers.

This week

  1. Set the staff PIN on the live site and set up one tablet at the window with the JOE’S Crew app.
  2. Print and post the window sign and the crew sheet; walk the crew through it once.
  3. Post by hand: the Instagram story with a link sticker to chefjoeroadhouse.com/card, and the Google post. The reels and carousel are already scheduled.
  4. Send your Dinner Night dishes and photos (your pastas and Mexican favorites) so the first menu and its reel can go out.
  5. Two quick calls: your accountant on sales tax for memberships, your insurer on free delivery.
  6. Ask every customer for a Google review once the review link and QR are in place.
What the numbers say: membership fees roughly pay for the members’ own discounts and free delivery, so treat them as the cost of keeping regulars, not as profit. The money is in the visits: members and card holders coming back more often, and a list you can bring back with one email. Watch “Smashes this week” and “Not back in 30 days” in your owner console.
